SA Jewish Board of Deputies KwazuluNatal President David Simpson, together with Mary Kluk, arranged a World Cup Kosher Café at the Durban Jewish Centre with live TV broadcasts on a giant screen of World Cup fixtures played outside of Durban.

The first of these screenings was the England vs USA match on Saturday night 12 June. All patrons and the pulsating chavershaft enjoyed the electric atmosphere and delicious kosher food.

In what has been another busy week for the Board:

In response to emails received from Jewish leaders overseas, Wendy Kahn has had to send numerous communications aimed at scotching rumors that South Africa is considering expelling the Israeli Ambassador.

Under the Diplomatic Liaison department, National Chairman Zev Krengel sent letters of condolence to Winnie Madikizela Mandela and President Nelson Mandela and Graca Machel on the tragic passing of their great grand-daughter Zenani.

Alana Pugh-Jones attended the Gauteng Local Government's Faith-Based Sector Stakeholder meeting at the Department of Community Safety. Interfaith work as part of the 'Take Charge' anti-crime campaign was discussed.
