of Alumni Achievement

By: Ronel Zeff

On Sunday evening 21 February the glittering, glamorous David Awards 2010 took place at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, under the direction of former Davidian and professional producer Vicky Freidman. The David Awards 2010 were created to acknowledge the contributions of former learners of the Hillel and the King David schools to society. Contenders were nominated and voted for by the general public – close on 3000 votes were received in the online campaign which ran for 3 weeks on www.kdsf.org.

Celebrity presenters took to the stage to announce the winners, while the audience was entertained by former Hillel and King David learners who are now professional performers, namely Adam Davis, Danny K, Steven Leas, Lisa Melman, and Bryan Schimmel. The Top 5 and some of the finalists from 2009’s KD’s Got Talent, (Gabriella Allan, Diana Berkowitz, Jess Dworcan, Jody Kaplan, Lindsey Katz, Aston Silver, Jamey Wolpe) and winner Ryan Peimer, as well as talented former Davidian professional dancers, Camille Bracher and Marise Dusheiko all showcased their talent.
