The Shul is packed! The Bar Mitzvah boy and his entire family are present. There is a groom who was married a few days ago, and one who is getting married in the coming week. A visiting Rosh Yeshiva from overseas (who happens to be a Kohen) is in Shul, and the Shul chairman has Yahrtzeit for his father. The Vice chairman (also a Kohen) has sponsored the Kiddush in honour of his anniversary and the wife of the Shul President has Yahrtzeit for her mother who was married to a non-Jew.
Now What??!!??
The Community Development Division of the UOS is offering a dynamic and informative course for all Gabbaim and for all aspiring Gabbaim.
The course will be opened by Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein and will include presentations from senior Rabbis and experienced Gabbaim in our community.
If you have no knowledge in this area and would like to learn – now is your chance. If you already have knowledge and experience, come compare notes and fine tune your skills.
The courses will run at the UOS over three consecutive Monday mornings and a light breakfast will be served.
The three Wednesdays are: 26 May, 2 and 9 June from 7:30am – 8:45am. The cost is R100 for members of UOS affiliated Shuls and R150 for members of other Shuls and includes all three sessions and “The Gabbai’s Handbook”.
Call Eve on 010 214-2633 between 9am and 1pm or e-mail cd@uos.co.za to reserve your place.
